12 Mar Happy International Womens Week!

We have been meaning for this post to go out for a few days now but hectic schedules and a very busy week in work has meant some slight delays! Sorry girls, but as women, we are reclaiming International Women’s Day and stretching it out into a whole darn week and celebrating shamaze women a little bit longer!

We have had a lovely but busy week in the shop this week, Live catwalk shows with 7k of you tuning in – WOW – we still can’t get over that so many of you tune in to watch! We have been interviewing too for a new bridal position and we are incredibly excited to welcome a new member of staff and we have seen lots of you gorgeous brides and helped you find your dress – including one of our past competition winners – who won an amazing £500 off her dream dress too!

This time last year I was asked to speak at a Natwest event celebrating women in business in honour of International Women’s Day and reflecting on that this week got me thinking about the amazing women in business we work with and this week provided me with an opportunity to showcase a local business. I hope this short blog provides you with an amazing new contact as you plan your wedding and also inspires you to celebrate the amazing women in your lives………

Introducing Sam Cahill – Make Up Artist

It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to Sam. She’s in the early stages of setting up her own business specialising in freelance bridal and occasion makeup, after working for years perfecting her craft with various companies. She has years of experience behind her and knows her products and how to apply them inside out.

She not only makes you look amazing – and I’m speaking from first-hand experience – she’s on hand to answer any questions about techniques or applying make up too.

Sam is not only an incredibly talented lady but also she’s an incredible person too. She’s on hand to offer advice, personally and professionally, come and get into a dress or 2 for some shoots at House of Oliver and is always up for a great brainstorm! She’s incredibly caring and will strive for nothing less than perfection when creating your look for your event or big day. Her work has been featured on Don’t Tell the Bride, she’s styled us for The Wedding Industry Awards and I’ve used her personally on the odd date night or two!

So as a bride to be or potential client what do you need to know?

She may be new to her own business but she’s by no means a new face on the makeup scene. Her work is recognised by international makeup brands and she’s spent time investing in courses too.

Does this mean she’s expensive? No! She’s incredibly reasonable – you’d need to contact her for an up to date price list and quote for your party. But what’s extra special is she also gives you a wealth of knowledge on how to apply correctly at home, make your own makeup last and the shades you should be wearing day to day too. This is the kind of knowledge I’m looking for when I pay to have my make up applied – I’m a sucker for knowledge and Sam doesn’t disappoint at all. She genuinely wants to help you look and feel the best you can at your event and that goes further than when her make up brushes go down.

She is one to watch for absolute sure! She’s just opening her books for weddings and event makeup so you can take advantage of some early bird offers whilst she gets booked up.
